Job Purpose
This position provides construction management leadership and experience on renewable (hydro/wind etc.) power construction projects, ensuring that the project meets design intent as well as meeting schedule and cost objectives. The ideal candidate has civil construction experience and strong skills in managing a diverse group of project participants (client, contractors, regulatory, municipalities, etc.).

The position duties include the following:
Site Coordination
- Site manager whose primary function is to ensure contractors fully understand their contractual obligations and final product requirements.
- Liaison with contractors to minimize contractor conflict and encourage synergy on multiple contractor work sites.
- Identify slow progress, inadequate quality or performance, possible future construction problems and suggest possible solutions.
Construction Contract Management
- Construction Contract Strategy implementation to minimize project risk and cost.
- Construction Contract contractor liaison and establishing contractor rapport.
Project Schedule and Cost Control
- Project schedule monitoring and updating as project development proceeds.
- Capital cost estimates monitoring relative to construction budget.
- Monthly contact progress payment documents and associated budget and schedule reporting for project status report.
Equipment Procurement Completion
- Monitor the receipt of major equipment and materials to ensure compliance with technical aspects and commercial terms, facilitate responsibility transfers and acceptance including damage recording and repairs.
Regulatory Compliance and Liaison
- Assist in the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan focusing on the construction aspects of the works and ensure associated work plans from contractors meet requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong civil construction background in remote and mountainous environments.
- Construction experience of at least 10 years, capable of working on several major industrial projects simultaneously in a multidiscipline environment.
- Prefer a Civil Engineer with professional registration in Alberta or British Columbia.
